SIMPLE SHADING

1. Click on the peice of paper in the toolbar to open a new image.
Or cick on File...New.

2. Make it 200x200 (pixels) and use the settings as in the image below.

3. Save the color pallette I have provided below.

Keep it in your work area as you will need it througout the tut.

4. With your dropper tool choose color #1.

5. Click on the arrow within the color box on the bottom color.

6. Choose the circle with the line in it to make it void.

You want the brown on top.

7. Now click on your shapes tool.

8. Click on the tool options so you can see your settings and pick your shape.

Use the settings as above using the ellipse shape.

10. Now draw your cirlcle. It doesn't have to be exactly like mine.
It should look something like this.

-------------------------------------------------------
Now we are going to shade this circle using gradients.
This is a SIMPLE way to shade....I personally shade pixel by pixel
but we'll get to that as the tuts progress.

1. Click on your magic wand.

2. Select the inside of your circle and you will see the ants march.

3. Click on your dropper tool again and choose color #2.

4. Toggle the colors by clicking the 2 arrows so that color #2 is on the bottom and
then use your dropper tool to select color #3.

5. Leaving color #3 on top, click on the arrow within the box and choose gradient.

6. Click in the color box now to open up your gradient settings.
Just as you would to choose a color. A box will appear for your settings.

7. Make sure that you have the Sunburst Gradient selected. The 3rd one down.
8. Now click on Edit.

It might get a little tricky here...but it's easy once you have done it once or twice.
Here is what the settings look like. Yours might be set different. No big deal.
We are going to edit them anyway.

9. Making sure that your darker color is pulled ALL THE WAY to the left,
click on the lighter color and drag it to the center of the line.

You'll notice that the percentage box is at 50% which means it's in the middle now.

10. Now go all way to the right, at the end of the line and click right under the long box
and a new little crayon will appear. Click around where you see the little red box
in the image below.

If it's not pulled all the way to the end of the box just click on it and drag it over.

11. We want to change the color of the new crayon to color #4 so click the new crayon and
then click on Custom and a color chart will come up.

You can change the color 2 different ways.
a. hover over the color pallette and you will see the R: G: B: in this case is 229,183,158
b. you can write down the HTML Code for that color and type it in.
It should look like this once you've changed the color.

12. Make sure you have Foreground-Background selected in the menu at the top.

13. Click OK and you will see what it's going to look like in your gradient window.

14. Click OK

15. The inside of your circle should still have the marching ants in it.
If it doesn't click on your magic wand and click inside your circle again.

16. Click on your flood fill tool.

17. Now click inside your circle and it should flood fill it with your gradient.

18. Deselect the inner part of the circle. Selections/None.

20. YOU'RE DONE.

Save this finished image as a psp file as I plan on using it for future tuts.
